Any of you who have kids know that when you give them something to eat, even if you are eating the same thing, they always want what you have instead. Today I sliced up a nectarine for Ellie, and I got myself a whole one to eat. Immediately she decided that she wanted mine and acted as if hers was invisible. I pointed to it, I tapped on the plate that it was sitting on, I even picked up a slice and held it in front of her face. None of that made a difference. She wanted what I had and that was it. So I ended up eating her slices, and she dove face first into my whole piece.
